
BIOGRAPHY
Emrah Oğuztürk
..was born in 1986 at Kars (Turkey). The lullabies he had heard from his grandmother during his childhood, had been the early messengers of his interest in music. It had an impact on his growing passion for Folk Music at high school.
Emrah, started his journey with ‘Mey’ (wind instrument) and then moved on to another instrument, kaval. The wind instrument kaval was suggested by his childhood friend ‘Emre Kizil’ with whom he has been together at the stage for many years. (Emre is working at TRT Istanbul Radio nowadays).
Emrah started his professional music career with the help of Engin Arslan, baglama master. He was part of several both national and international projects since 2007. He worked together with Aynur Doğan from 2007 till 2008 and with Kardeş Türküler he worked from 2007 till 2011.
He believes in master-apprentice philosophy. He was inspired and learned music from the wind instruments-masters by following their footsteps. Throughout his journey he had a chance to learn and play together with many valuable masters as; Ertan TEKİN, Osman AKTAŞ, Sinan ÇELİK, Suren ASADURYAN. He also shared the stage with many other valuable artists as; Delil Dilanar, Arto Tunçboyaciyan, Sakina, Suren Asaduryan, Şivan Perwer, Amariszi, Marsis, Bajar, Ara Dinkjian, Nederlandse Blazers Ensemble.
In 2011, he gave a workshop about Kaval, Mey, Zurna, Duduk and Tulum at Codarts World Music Conservatoire, Netherlands. After that in May 2011, he successfully passed the entrance exam to join the Codarts World Music Conservatoire. However after 1 year of study he left the conservatoire with his own device.
Living in The Netherlands, Emrah Oğuztürk continues to his journey in music together with his own group Roye Ma, other musicians and groups all over the Europe. He also passes his experience to new apprentices with his master classes and courses.
